African Proverb
A support professional who works with people in their reproductive years; often lending informational, physical, and psychological support, presence, and reassurance.
Rather, we work in conjunction with all of the above to ensure you have a cohesive team for your reproductive journey and experience.
According to Evidence Based Birth's Doula Handout, "Overall, people who receive continuous support are more likely to have a normal vaginal birth and
less likely to have pain medication, negative feelings about childbirth, and Cesareans. In addition, their labors are shorter and their babies are less likely to have complications at birth or be admitted to a NICU. In these studies, the best results occurred when the continuous support was provided by a trained doula—someone who was not a staff member at the hospital and not part of the birthing person’s social network."
Hi, I’m Lawren Flynn, founder of Birth and Baby LLC.
I live in East Greenbush with my fiancé, son, and our two tuxedo cats. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, hot yoga, and spending time with my family. My path to birthwork began with my own fertility challenges, a joyful pregnancy, a fulfilling birth, and a tough postpartum and breastfeeding experience. Through it all, I experienced firsthand how easy it is to fall through the cracks of the medical system—and how powerful doula support can be. That insight led me to this work and to my mission: helping close the care gap for families in the Capital Region and beyond.
I bring a background in Early Childhood Education, am dual-certified as a Birth and Bereavement Doula (Stillbirthday), certified as a Postpartum Doula through DONA International, and hold up-to-date First Aid/CPR/AED certifications for all age groups. Additional training includes Spinning Babies, Psychological First Aid, Holding Space for Abortion, and Babywearing Education. I’m also pursuing my Bachelor’s in Nursing to deepen my clinical knowledge.
My work is grounded in evidence-based care, biological and contextual understanding, and deep respect for each family’s unique experience. I aim to support all people with compassion, inclusivity, and a holistic approach—whether you’re navigating joy, grief, uncertainty, or all of the above.
It’s a privilege to be able to support growing families through every twist and turn of their parenting journey. I’d be honored to walk alongside you, too.
